As Fire Chief for the Village of Posen Fire Department, I am pleased to have the opportunity to present you with information about our department and the services that we offer to the community of Posen.

The Village of Posen Fire Department is proudly served by 42 men and women functioning as part-time/paid-on-call firefighters. The fire station has a minimum of 4 Fire/EMS personnel on duty at all times. All other firefighters are assigned to an on call duty day. A firefighter on call must be ready to respond to any and all fire or medical (EMS), calls though out that day. They are excused only for the hours during the day for which they are working
their full time jobs.

All Posen Fire Department personnel are required to complete continuous training. All members of the department are required to maintain their education through weekly mandatory training sessions every Monday evening for 4 hours.

The Posen Fire Department station is located on the west side of the Village Hall. Our fleet of fire apparatus includes an Engine, a Heavy Rescue Pumper, a Quint Aerial Fire Truck, two Advanced Life Support Ambulances, a Command Vehicle, and two Utility Vehicles. The Fire Department responds to over 1400 calls for service annually and works closely with neighboring communities to provide the best possible service to our residents and business owners.

The Posen Fire Department is an active member of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS), The Southwest Hazardous Materials Response Team, The Combined Area Response Team, the MABAS 22 Fire Investigation Team, and the South Suburban Arson Task Force. Membership in these specialty teams require dedicated individuals from our department to participate but gives us the ability to provide the residents and businesses of Posen with the highest possible professional services of any big city fire department.

The Posen Fire Department recently received a reduction in its ISO insurance rating from a 5 to 4 from the Insurance Services Office. The rating system is based on a scale of 10, with 1 being superior fire protection. The lower rating equates to reduced insurance rates for business and home owners in Posen.

Be assured the Posen Fire Department is ready to respond to your needs. Please feel free to contact us at anytime with questions or comments about our department. I look forward to continuing to serve the community and residents of Posen.
The Posen Fire Department has an open application process and applications are available by stopping in our business office Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. Applications are kept on file for 1 year from application date and hiring is on an "as needed" basis.
