Village of Posen Code Red Announcement

We are all aware of the order from Governor Pritzker to shelter in place. The Village of Posen Staff continues to monitor the Covid-19 outbreak and are meeting regularly via conference calls to assure that the safe operation of the Village continues.  Any changes to the village operations or other important announcements will be communicated through our Official Village Website as they occur.

The Village Hall will remain open Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm to allow for residents to pay water bills, purchase vehicle stickers, and so forth. All residents are urged however to do whatever they can to avoid contact whenever possible. All residents have the ability to pay water bills on line by visiting our website at www.villageofposen.org and click on the Epay tab on the right hand side. If you have any questions or concerns you are encouraged to call the Village Hall at 708-385-0139

Village Meetings will take continue to take place as scheduled. The Governor’s Executive Order allows for regular meetings to take place via conference call or video during this emergency. Village Board members will participate by phone. We are asking the public to not attend. We are working on accommodations to allow the meeting to be recorded and placed on our website for viewing. Please watch our web site for updates on this matter.

If you are visiting the Village hall to pay your bill or purchase vehicle stickers we encourage you to come with a prewritten check if possible. Water bill payments can be deposited in a box inside the village hall during business hours or if after hours, may be slid into the opening between the doors for processing the following day. This can be done with CHECKS ONLY-NO CASH, If you are making cash payments they must be made at the window.

Vehicle stickers can be purchased at the window. Again, paying by check minimizes contact and vehicle stickers can be handing over. For your protection as well as our employees, all employees are wearing gloves and are separated from the public by glass. The opening in the window has been sealed off to prevent any transmission of the virus.

Regular water meter readings will take begin on Monday March 23rd. Public Works Employee will only read outside meter for this interval. Any inside meters will be estimated for this month and adjusted on your next bill.

At this time , the police and fire department continue to operate at full staff and stand ready to serve our residents. Please consider the extreme strain being placed on the Emergency Medical System at this time. If you are calling 9-1-1 please inform the emergency call taker if you or anyone in your house is experiencing any signs or symptoms of Covid-19 so that emergency workers can take the proper precautions.

Finally, If you are feeling sick at all, PLEASE STAY HOME!! The Mayor strongly encourages all residents to follow the order of the Governor. Stay Home.  Please only go out for essential services. This is the only way to defeat this virus. We wish everyone to stay healthy and be safe.
