ADA Sidewalk Upgrade Program to Begin

The Village of Posen has received a grant from Cook County as part of their Invest in Cook program to improve ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessibility Village wide. The Invest in Cook ADA Sidewalk Rehabilitation construction project is scheduled to begin (weather permitting) on Friday , May 1st, 2020. The construction work will begin with curb and gutter as well as sidewalk removal at the corners of the intersections in the area along 144th Street and 143rd Street between Harrison and Western Ave. New curb and gutter, sidewalk, and detectable warnings plates will be installed at approved ADA slopes which might cause the existing parkway elevation to have to be lowered in some cases. Restoration behind all new concrete will complete the project. Vehicles may be parked on the streets listed above unless prohibited by posted “No Parking” during construction signs. When parking restrictions are necessary on your street the contractor will be posting signs at least 24 hours in advance and delivering notices to your house. We will try to keep these restrictions to a minimum however they are necessary to allow our contractors to access the areas needed for repairs. This work will be continuing through the end of May. If you have any questions or concerns you can always contact the Village Hall at 708-385-0139.
