The Village of Posen is happy to introduce a limited time assistance plan to assist village residents with outstanding debt on water bills. The purpose of this program is to provide residents with a temporary opportunity to seek debt relief through the forgiveness of penalties and/or interest accruing on unpaid municipal utility bills (water/sewer/garbage).
The village will accept applications for the Municipal Utility Debt Amnesty Program from May15th, 2021 through July15th, 2021. To be eligible, the applicant must be an owner-occupant/rental tenant of a residential unit, and shall be the customer listed on the municipal utility account.
Each applicant shall fill out and execute an application, on forms to be provided by the Public Works Secretary, certifying and agreeing: (i) that he/she is an owner occupant/rental tenant of the identified residential unit, and the customer listed on the municipal utility account; (ii) that he/she will pay the principal of all unpaid municipal utility charges listed to the account on or before August 15th, 2021; and (iii) that he/she will pay the next three municipal utility bills issued in a timely manner.
An eligible participant who timely applies for participation in the Municipal Utility Debt Amnesty Program, pays the principle of all unpaid municipal utility charges listed to the account on or before August 15th, 2021, and pays the next three municipal utility bills in a timely manner, shall have any and all penalties and/or interest that accrued on unpaid municipal utility bills forgiven and voided.
