Rental Assistance Programs for the State of Illinois begins Monday 12/6/2021

On Monday, December 6, 2021, two emergency rental assistance programs
will open their application portals: the Illinois Housing Development Authority Illinois Rental Payment Program (ILRPP) and the City of Chicago Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP).

The Illinois Rental Payment Program (ILRPP) provides rental assistance to income-eligible Illinois renters and their landlords who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Approved applicants may receive up to 18 months of assistance not to exceed $25,000, including up to 15 months of missed rent payments and up to three months of future rent payments. Grant amounts will vary and will be matched to the tenant’s specific needs. Both renters and landlords can apply for this program.
