Pritzker Announces $42 Million Water Assistance Program for Low-Income Households

To help low-income families unable to pay water and sewer bills avoid shutoffs, Governor JB Pritzker and DCEO recently announced the new $42 million Low-Income Household Water Assistance Plan (LIHWAP), under the Help Illinois Families (HIF) initiative. Funded in part through ARPA, LIHWAP builds on $327 million in emergency assistance launched earlier this year for income eligible families facing difficulty with paying utility and other essential household bills.
