Posen Police

Posen Police Recognized by Special Olympics Illinois

The Posen Police Department was recognized at the recent Village Meeting by the Special Olympics Illinois for their outstanding fundraising efforts in 2018. The Posen Police Department raised $6972 in 2018 through the Cop on Top fundraiser held at the Posen Dunkin Donuts this past year as well as the “Five O at the Dirty O” Race event. Nice work by our Posen Police Officers

Illinois CEDA Home Energy Assistance Programs

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for Cook County has funds available. The LIHEAP program is fully funded and in need of applicants!

LIHEAP application intake is down 10% in Cook County compared to last year. I am concerned that Cook County residents may believe the funding is unavailable or they believe their utilities have to be disconnected…both of which are untrue.

These funds have to be used before by May 31, 2019.

EMA Volunteers Needed

The Posen Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is seeking volunteers who are interested in serving the community. EMA members meet monthly and regularly train in things such as crowd control, traffic duties, and first aid.

EMA’s role during an emergency such as a tornado or natu- ral disaster is to work with the Police and Fire Departments directing traffic, providing security, and assisting with evacuations and other duties.

Members are viewed as a critical component of the Village Disaster Plan. Interested persons should be 17 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license, and be able to pass a background check.

If you are interested in joining please contact Fire Chief Kevin Szewczyk at 708-385-3110 or email at kszewczyk@villageofposen.org.
